Mine is a slightly different story. I have been in the SEO Industry for 14+ years and had always heard the name, Bill Slawski. I live in Southern California, not far from Bill, so in March of 2022, I decided to reach out to Bill and invite him to lunch. We met in Carlsbad at a beautiful restaurant by the Pacific Ocean. The weather was spectacular. I got there early and anxiously awaited his arrival. For those that have not seen Bill for a while, he was struggling. He had great difficulty moving.
We spent two hours enjoying great food and exchanging stories. He spoke about his stroke and that he was told he would never walk again. He was proud of how far he had gotten. He shared some great stories, including working with an Attorney in San Diego doing Local SEO. He said he created lists of top dangerous intersections, and the website traffic went crazy. We talked about E.A.T. Bill said, "don't you think virtually every website is YMYL"?
Bill had crab cakes and ate some of my squash ravioli. The kindness in his eyes, even though he struggled for words some times, was clear. My heart broke for what the stroke did for him. He laughed that his company wanted him to do some in-person visits, but he knew he would not be doing that.
I am glad he has finally found peace. His body was struggling against him. It was such an honor to meet him, and I will be forever grateful for his kindness.
